Nesika Beach Ophir Water District

Welcomes You!

General Information

Welcome to the Nesika Beach Ophir Water District (NBOWD) website.

We truly value our customers and rely on our community relations to ensure satisfactory water service throughout our service area.

Some facts about our water district:

  • NBOWD was formed when the Nesika Beach Water District merged with the Ophir Water District. The service area has been expanded to include additional connections outside of these original districts.
  • We recently moved into a new office that is just south of the Ophir Fire Department.
  • We currently provide water to approximately 560 service connections. We serve primarily residential customers as well as a few businesses.
  • Our water supply is from a high quality groundwater source, pumped from a well that produces about 240 gallons per minute. We only pump the amount of water needed by our customers and daily pump time is adjusted seasonally to meet demand. The District is investigating installation of another well that can provide a backup supply in the event of a disaster or equipment failure.
  • District source water is treated with chlorine for disinfection and soda ash to raise pH. Raising pH is a requirement of the National Lead and Copper Rule to prevent these metals from corroding into the drinking water of older residences that commonly used copper and lead in their plumbing.
  • NBOWD is overseen by an elected Board of Directors who are non-paid volunteers that live in our service area. The day-to-day operation of the water system is conducted by the District Manager.
  • The district is regulated by the Oregon Health Authority which requires routine and periodic sampling that we conduct to verify safe drinking water. The results of this water quality sampling are summarized in our annual Consumer Confidence Report, which is available for review on this website.
  • If you would like to establish water service within our service area, you can print an application from the Download/print forms section of this website  or stop by our office at 32876 Nesika Road. We do require a deposit to be paid in order to start a new account. The office hours are are Monday through Thursday from 9 am to 1 PM. The office is closed on Fridays, weekends and holidays.
